The Annandale Atoms's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 51-41 to Justice. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Annandale of the 64-45 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 3rd.
Despite the defeat, Annandale saw an underclassman step up: Ava Sewall scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.2% of Annandale's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Susan Aburish, who scored four points along with five steals.
Annandale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. As for Justice, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Annandale will take on Lewis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewis is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Justice, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology at 7:30 p.m.
