This season hasn't been kind to the Nickerson Panthers, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They had to suffer through a rough 70-35 loss at the hands of Haven. Nickerson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.
Nickerson's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Skyler Wakefield and Taylor Engelland. Wakefield scored 14 points, while Engelland scored five points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wakefield has scored all season.
Nickerson bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Haven, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nickerson will face off against St. John at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Haven will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hillsboro on January 30th.
