The Callaway Chargers were the 65-57 winner over the Provine Rams when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Callaway lost to Provine on the road by a decisive 74-58 margin on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Callaway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaden Hayes. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Braxton Ward was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Callaway and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Provine, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.
Callaway will head out on the road to face off against Lewisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lewisburg is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Provine, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Jim Hill at 7:30 p.m. Jim Hill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Provine is ranked 49th).
