The Corliss Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the 21st Century Charter Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corliss is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Even though Christian Fenger Academy scored an imposing 55 points two weeks ago, Corliss still came out on top. Corliss snuck past the Titans with a 60-55 win. The victory was just what Corliss needed coming off of a 85-26 defeat in their prior game.
Corliss found their leader in underclassman Joshua Pegues, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pegues has scored all season. D?Mario Sanders was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, 21st Century Charter entered their tilt with the Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. 21st Century Charter managed a 60-56 win over the Cougars on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
21st Century Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terrence Hayes led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Hayes is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lemetrius Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
Corliss' victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for 21st Century Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
