The Jeffersonville Red Devils won the last time they faced the New Albany Bulldogs, and things went their way on Monday too. Jeffersonville walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Bulldogs. Given Jeffersonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jeffersonville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lakyra Johnson out in front who scored 21 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Keziah Renee, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Jeffersonville and bumps their season record up to 12-9. As for New Albany, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jeffersonville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Scottsburg has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 442 points over their last seven contests. As for New Albany, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Owls at 7:30 p.m. Seymour is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
