Carson is a perfect 5-0 against Palos Verdes since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Colts will welcome the Sea Kings at 10:00 a.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Carson 2.3, Palos Verdes 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Carson had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but San Pedro put an end to it on Thursday. The Colts fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. The match marked the Colts' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Giselle Pantoja spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ashannalee Titialii made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple.
Meanwhile, Palos Verdes waltzed into their game on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolves a 12-0 shutout. The Sea Kings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Adela Randazzo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mariah Candela, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Palos Verdes pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Carson, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-2-1.
Palos Verdes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. It's a different story for Palos Verdes, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain Carson's hitters?
Carson skirted past Palos Verdes 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Sea Kings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
