Even though the Carlisle County Comets scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Calloway County Lakers still came out on top. Calloway County secured a 61-55 W over Carlisle County. Given Calloway County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Carlisle County is ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Calloway County found their leader in underclassman Jaidan Koch, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. The game was Koch's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Crouch, who scored 16 points.
Calloway County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Carlisle County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Calloway County and Trigg County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Trigg County is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Carlisle County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fulton County at 6:00 p.m. Fulton County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
