Springboro had won six straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 12-4 to make it seven. They had just enough and edged out the Miamisburg Vikings 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Katie Jonas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Vanessa Hornfeck was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Coffey was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Springboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miamisburg only posted a batting average of .267.
As for Miamisburg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last eight times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
On Miamisburg's side, Ryla Zering was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Zering didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Katie Enneking made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mikaela Holp, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Springboro will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Little Miami at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Springboro 4, Little Miami 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Miamisburg, they are taking a road trip to square off against Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
