The Pinnacle Pioneers and the Corona del Sol Aztecs will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Pinnacle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Pinnacle unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak. They fell just short of Hamilton by a score of 51-48. While losing is never fun, Pinnacle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Hamilton is ranked third).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Braylon Johnson, who scored 24 points along with 8 rebounds. He scored a full 50% of Pinnacle's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ryan Nelson was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, Corona del Sol was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain View on Friday, taking the game 47-34.
Their wins bumped Pinnacle to 7-2 and Hamilton to 7-2.
Pinnacle was able to grind out a solid victory over Corona del Sol when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 74-66. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinnacle since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
