Conestoga Christian is 10-0 against Alliance Christian since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Conestoga Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Alliance Christian Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Conestoga Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They were dealt a 61-33 defeat at the hands of Linville Hill. While losing is never fun, Conestoga Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Linville Hill is ranked 146th).
Despite the defeat, Conestoga Christian saw an underclassman step up: Josh Boutaugh scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Boutaugh has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bransen Weaver, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Alliance Christian, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were outmatched by Linville Hill on the road and fell 97-31. Alliance Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-15.
This is the second loss in a row for Conestoga Christian and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Alliance Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Conestoga Christian against Alliance Christian in their previous meeting last Wednesday as the squad secured a 71-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Conestoga Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
