The Mountain View Eagles will face off against the Carbondale Area Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Mountain View fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Montrose on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Meteors by a score of 8-7. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jordan Jagger put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Jagger was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Ziggy Bradford was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tanner Holtsmaster, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carbondale Area). They came out on top against Forest City by a score of 7-4 on Wednesday.
Like Mountain View, Carbondale Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Smith. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Xander Keill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Xander Mackey was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Carbondale Area's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mountain View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carbondale Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mountain View skirted past Carbondale Area 3-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
