Softball Recap: Brunswick Academy Wins Going Away Against Amelia Academy

Brunswick Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Amelia Academy Patriots with a sharp 19-3 win. Considering the Vikings have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

McKenna Faith Bryant made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Bryant was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Lynn Corum, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Riley Gee Griffin was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Brunswick Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amelia Academy only posted an OBP of .286.

Brunswick Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. Amelia Academy is on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick Academy will take on Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Amelia Academy, they will challenge Tidewater Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tidewater Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.2 runs per game on average), something Amelia Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of.
