The Southridge Suns will head out to square off against the Kamiakin Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Southridge not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 16-1). Everything went their way against Walla Walla as they made off with a 12-1 victory. The Suns have beaten the Blue Devils the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Blue Devils has come to flipping the script.
Avery Garvey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Anna Marty and Jadyn Holdren did most of the damage at the plate: Marty went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Holdren got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave Marty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylinn Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Kamiakin made easy work of Pasco on Tuesday and carried off a 14-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.
Like Southridge, Kamiakin also got a great game from a two-way player: Lizzie O'Leary. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. O'Leary was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harley Worster, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Analise Thomasson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Kamiakin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Southridge, their record now sits at 10-6.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Southridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Kamiakin struggles in that department as they've averaged .445. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Southridge's way against Kamiakin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Southridge made off with a 19-12 victory. Will the Suns repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
