The Haven Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Hoisington Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Haven 3.4, Hoisington 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Haven made easy work of Larned and carried off a 15-5 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Avery Brawner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Brawner was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Morgan O'Neal was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Ella Bontrager was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Haven always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Hoisington strolled into their game last Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Larned a 4-0 shutout.
Like Haven, Hoisington also got a great game from a two-way player: Ellie Crawford. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Crawford has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles were her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mea Sneath, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Gabby Reif, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Haven pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Hoisington, their record now sits at 4-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Haven hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Hoisington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Haven was able to grind out a solid win over Hoisington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
