The Brookland Bearcats will venture away from home to square off against the Paragould Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Tuesday, Brookland didn't have quite enough to beat Westside and fell 3-2. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-16 in the first set.
Brookland actually scored more points across those five sets (100-99), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-15, 16-25, 25-20, 17-15.
Ashlyn Ussery put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 11 digs and four aces. Lexie Schuermann was another key player, getting 13 digs and one assist.
Paragould hadn't beaten Mountain Home on the road since September 20, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bombers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Paragould wouldn't go down easily and took Mountain Home into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-17, 25-22, 19-25, 15-11.
The win got Paragould back to even at 9-9. As for Brookland, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-7.
Everything went Brookland's way against Paragould in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Brookland made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
