Central Wise has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Gate City Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Wise comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Central Wise ended up a good deal behind Lee and lost 24-7.
Gate City fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 25-13 win over John Battle on Friday.
Central Wise's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Union and 7-2 Ridgeview (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.1% over those games). As for Gate City, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Central Wise came up short against Gate City when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 21-14. Can Central Wise avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
