The Rouse Raiders came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 80-40 win over Hays at home. Given Rouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Hawks are ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rouse got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amarie Haywood out in front who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Haywood has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Devin Brown, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rouse has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for Hays, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-17.
Rouse will head out on the road to square off against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glenn is on a four-game streak of home wins, the Raiders a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Hays will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
