Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 33-23 to the Rangers on Friday. Redbank Valley's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Braylon Wagner and Ashton Kahle certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Wagner threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, while Kahle picked up 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kahle was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 68 yards.
Fort Cherry found their leader in underclassman Matt Sieg, who rushed for 258 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Sieg is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Ethan Faletto and his 89 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Fort Cherry's victory.
Redbank Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Fort Cherry, they pushed their record up to 15-0 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Redbank Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Fort Cherry will square off against Steelton-Highspire at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Steelton-Highspire: 17.8, Fort Cherry: 13.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
