The Delta Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 82-14 win over Basalt on the road. Delta has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 26 points or more this season.
Delta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Somers, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Somers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Huff, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
The win (which was Delta's tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Basalt, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delta won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. Summit is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Basalt, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Skiers at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Aspen is ranked 289th, while the Longhorns are ranked 310th).
