The Kearns Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-51 victory over Granger. The win was some much needed relief for Kearns as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Kearns was led to victory by Ivan Kaufusi and Braxton England. Kaufusi dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while England scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Cruz, who scored 13 points.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Gukeisen, who scored 14 points. Daudi Aweyso was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Kearns' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Granger, their loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kearns will take on Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylorsville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Granger, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Juan Diego Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 244 points over their last four matches.
