The Liberty Common Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on Brush with a sharp 66-45 win. For Liberty Common, this counts as revenge for the 66-49 defeat Brush walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Liberty Common's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Patrick Kearney, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kearney has scored all season. Max Frevert was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Brush saw an underclassman step up: Edgar Ortiz scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Sanchez-Calvillo III, who scored six points along with two steals.
Liberty Common is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. As for Brush, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Liberty Common won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against The Pinnacle at 1:30 p.m. on February 10th.
