For the second straight game, Burley will face off against Minico. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Burley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Burley is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Minico just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5.

For Minico's part, Jase Murphy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Murphy is becoming a predictor of Minico's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Murphy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cody Carlson and Jalyx Guzman did most of the damage at the plate: Carlson went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI, while Guzman scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Jayden Sanders also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Minico is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Burley, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Burley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Minico struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
