Rutland is a perfect 4-0 against Northeast since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rutland Hurricanes will host the Northeast Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Rutland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Rutland beat Central 10-6.
Colton Beard made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Beard was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kyle Howard was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Khalil Washington was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Northeast came up short against Warner Robins on Monday and fell 10-5. The Raiders have struggled against the Demons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
Northeast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Talley, who scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-3. Another was Zahkie Denson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Rutland pushed their record up to 4-0-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rutland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northeast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rutland took their victory against Northeast when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-8. Will Rutland repeat their success, or does Northeast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
