The Springfield Senators's and the Springfield Southeast Spartans's match on Friday was close at halftime, but the Springfield Senators turned on the heat in the second half with 33 points. Springfield put the hurt on Springfield Southeast with a sharp 57-36 victory. The victory was just what Springfield needed coming off of a 74-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
Despite the loss, Springfield Southeast still got an impressive performance from Marisa Gant, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Navehua Collier, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Springfield pushed their record up to 16-8 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Springfield Southeast, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
Springfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloomington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield Southeast on the road again on Tuesday and play against Normal Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Normal Community has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
