Sodus is a perfect 10-0 against Clyde-Savannah since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will be playing at home against the Golden Eagles at 4:45 p.m. Sodus is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If Sodus beats Clyde-Savannah with four runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over East Rochester last Monday.
Sodus secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Braydn Orbaker, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Clyde-Savannah played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. Everything went their way against Lyons as they made off with a 7-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Jackson Barr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Aiden Grinnell was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Max Waldron was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Sodus' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Clyde-Savannah, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sodus has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clyde-Savannah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Sodus' way against Clyde-Savannah when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Sodus made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
