Baseball Recap: West Iredell Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hickory, West Iredell was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Newton-Conover Red Devils 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 27th.

Austin Arrowood made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arrowood was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, West Iredell let Owen Love and Xavierous Glaspy run wild. Love went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Glaspy went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Love has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Trae Clyburn, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

West Iredell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

West Iredell's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Newton-Conover, their loss dropped their record down to 13-6.
