Granville Central is 9-1 against the Warriors since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Granville Central Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Louisburg Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Granville Central earned a 48-36 victory over the Bulldogs. Given Granville Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Louisburg over the Warriors in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Louisburg blew the Warriors out of the water with a 64-31 final score. That looming 64-31 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Louisburg yet this season.
Louisburg found their leader in underclassman Josh Smith, who scored 23 points. Ronald Kearney was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Granville Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Louisburg, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Granville Central didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Warriors in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 47-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Granville Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
