Baseball Recap: Hobbs Takes a Loss

Hobbs lost against Las Cruces on Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Hobbs lost 14-5 to Las Cruces. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Bulldawgs since April 1, 2022.

Jason Fuentes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Hobbs is 2-1 when Fuentes posts two or more runs, but 2-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Montes, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Hobbs dropped their record down to 4-12 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Las Cruces, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hobbs will head out to face off against Artesia at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Las Cruces, they will venture away from home to square off against Mayfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. This will be Las Cruces' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
