The Chipley Tigers will head out to face off against the Ponce De Leon Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chipley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Chipley walked away with a 7-3 victory over Blountstown. Chipley hasn't had any issues with Blountstown recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Karley Welch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Rylee Collins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Ponce De Leon never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Graceville with a sharp 15-0 victory. The matchup marked the Pirates' most dominant win of the season.
Aubrey Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kiyann Alford was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Payton Joyner, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Chipley's record is now 10-3. As for Ponce De Leon, their record now sits at 8-3.
Chipley's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Ponce De Leon, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Chipley continue to outrun the ball?
Chipley was able to grind out a solid victory over Ponce De Leon in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 7-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
