Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Riverview). They never let the Middleton Tigers get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Sharks brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Kacey Kalinowski was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Alivia Garry was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kara McGuire also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Riverview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Riverview has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. Middleton is on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
