Vienna took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Carmi-White County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Bulldogs 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Vienna's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Will Borders, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Borders' first of the season. Quinten Eckhart was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Vienna is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Carmi-White County, they now have a losing record of 3-4-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Vienna beat the Bulldogs by a score of 10-5 later that day.
