Wheeler County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Wheeler County Bulldogs and the East Laurens Falcons will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Wheeler County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Saturday.
On Saturday, Wheeler County suffered a tough 51-25 loss at the hands of Dublin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheeler County in their matchups with Dublin: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Wheeler County had strong showings from Derrionna Madison, who scored seven points along with three blocks, and Elia Delgado, who scored no points. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, East Laurens made off with a 45-44 win over Swainsboro. The win made it back-to-back wins for East Laurens.
Wheeler County bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for East Laurens, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
Wheeler County took a serious blow against East Laurens in their previous meeting back in February, falling 51-22. Can Wheeler County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
