Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Plant walked away with it. They didn't even let the Sickles Gryphons on the board on Wednesday, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by eight runs or more this season.
Sickles' batters probably weren't too happy with Gigi Cozzens, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up a single walk). Cozzens has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kate Compton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Adeline Stephens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
Plant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sickles only posted an OBP of .083.
The win was the fourth in a row for Plant, bringing their record up to 20-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sickles, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.
As of now, neither Plant nor the Gryphons have any future games scheduled.
