Akol Machteng was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Amari Berkley, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and six assists.
Several Purple Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damauri Bell, who posted seven points. Bell continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Tyler Thomas was another key player, putting up five points.
Utica Academy of Science's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Cortland, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-6.
