With a playoff game on the line, the Jones County Greyhounds rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against Northside as Jones County made off with a 42-21 win. Considering Jones County has won seven games by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jones County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Devin Edmonds, who threw for 302 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Edmonds hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Zion Ragins, who rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown.
Northside's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kingston Rivers, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Jones County pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Union Grove and 1-9 Dacula (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.6% over those games). As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Jones County will head out on the road to face off against Coffee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coffee is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Northside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
