Cairo has been on the road for three straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Shawnee Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After soaring to 70 points the game before, Cairo were a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They were beaten by Paducah Tilghman 55-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cairo has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Shawnee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Century, falling 59-21. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Shawnee in their matchups with Century: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Shawnee saw an underclassman step up: Emma Young dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Cairo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Shawnee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Cairo against Shawnee in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-26 victory. Does Cairo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shawnee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
