Two dominant signal callers in Savoy Nichols and Kaeden Johnson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The University Trojans will take on the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University has given up an average of 26.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
University managed to slip by Ellison the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Trojans were beaten by the Eagles 60-23 on Friday. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Even if they lost, University's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Ronald Derrick was the leader with two. He has become a key player for University: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least one sack, but 2-3 otherwise. Joaquin Martinez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making seven total tackles, and defending two passes.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Marshall got themselves on the board against Lee on Saturday, but Lee never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Ganders 50-0. The Buffalos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 26 points or more this season.
Fort Bend Marshall's win came from a few key players University will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kameron Mathis, who rushed for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Dazjhon Taylor, who gained 107 total yards and a touchdown.
Fort Bend Marshall's run defense was locked in: Lee could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. While three picked up at least three total tackles, Kameron Rucker stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made three total tackles (3.0 for loss). Fort Bend Marshall's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.25 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 6.6 on average over their last five games.

The victory made it two in a row for Fort Bend Marshall and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 10 points in those games. As for University, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
University took a serious blow against Fort Bend Marshall in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 52-14. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Buffalos' Johnson, who threw for 176 yards and four TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 72 yards on only ten carries.
