The Servite Friars will play host again and welcome the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Servite walked away with it. Everything went their way against Valencia on Friday as Servite made off with a 48-24 victory. The result was nothing new for Servite, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Servite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quaid Carr led the charge by rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Carr was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Another player making a difference was Leo Hannan, who threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Servite's defense and their five sacks. Tomas Cernius was especially locked on to Valencia's QB and sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, Long Beach Poly entered their tilt with Vista Murrieta with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Long Beach Poly walked away with a 30-21 win over Vista Murrieta on Friday.
It was another big night for Darius Curry, who threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Servite now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Long Beach Poly, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the pair have no problem gaining yardage. Servite has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 368.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Long Beach Poly struggles in that department as they've been even better at 377 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.
