On Saturday, Anderson was able to grind out a solid victory over Tippecanoe Valley, taking the game 49-40. Given Anderson's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Tippecanoe Valley is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Anderson to victory were Javon Warfield and Damien King. Warfield scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while King scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. King has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Colin Lewis, who scored two points along with six steals.
When it comes to explaining why Tippecanoe Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ian Cooksey. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Shepherd, who scored eight points.
Anderson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Tippecanoe Valley, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson will take on Daleville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Daleville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Tippecanoe Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Jimtown at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Jimtown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
