Adrian Gutierrez and Adrian Guerra provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Michael's. The longest such play in TAPPS Division I District 2 this season, the connection resulted in 74 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Antonian Prep beat St. Anthony 54-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
St. Joseph Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Gutierrez threw for 183 and 2 touchdowns and Guerra had 123 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Olvera chipped in 117 yards. Jeff Gowen helped St. Joseph Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 40 yards.
Steve Lopez was a key player and the best on defense this week as John Paul II lost to Central Catholic. He grabbed 1 interception.
He was 14-27 with 1 interception.
Olvera was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 117 yards on 23 carries as the Bloodhounds fell to the Crusaders. Beto Masso also contributed to the rushing game with 63 yards on the ground.
St. Joseph Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bloodhounds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gutierrez has thrown for 1,491 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Guerra has 58 catches for 963 yards.

Olvera of the Christian Putegnat's team is just 47 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 131 carries Olvera has put up 953 yards this year.
A big matchup in TAPPS Division I District 2 this week will be when Antonian Prep takes on the Buttons. At the moment, Van Fuschak's team is in first, while Central Catholic is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Apaches take on Don Byrd's team. Antonian Prep has allowed 126 points this season, while the Buttons have given up 166. The Apaches allowed 13 points last week as they topped the Yellowjackets.
Mario vasquez's team fell to Central Catholic 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Charles Miles was a bright spot for the Centurions, as he ran for 21 yards in the loss.
