Delta made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,587 from 3,116. The improvement was the result of a 13-9 victory over Glenwood Springs last week.
Palisade fell 24-21 to The Classical Academy in the closest game of the week. In the loss.
Delta's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cade Gafford has thrown for 1,922 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Ryan Whiteside has 64 catches for 1,006 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Silver Creek, Gafford is short just 78 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
In 115 carries Javier Nunez has accumulated 984 yard this year.
Jonney Pounce broke off the longest rushing play in 3A Western Slope this week with a 60-yard run against the Demons. Delta beat Glenwood Springs, Pounce finishing the game with 165 yards rushing.
