Hunter is 9-0 against West Jordan since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Hunter Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the West Jordan Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. West Jordan took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hunter, who comes in off a win.
Hunter scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 73-21 win over Granger. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.
Grace Gallagher and Kalysa Ng were among the main playmakers for Hunter as the former dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds and the latter scored 21 points along with five assists and five steals. Gallagher hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Naia Makakona, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, West Jordan's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 73-59 bruising from Kearns. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, West Jordan had strong showings from Giselle Muffet, who scored 23 points along with three steals, and Rochelle Afo Manuma, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Afo Manuma is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Isabella Knight, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Hunter's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9. As for West Jordan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hunter have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 37 rebounds per game. It's a different story for West Jordan, though, as they've been averaging only 39 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hunter strolled past West Jordan in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a score of 51-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hunter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
