Cole is 0-4 against Jourdanton since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Indians/Squaws at 5:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Cole came up short against Randolph and fell 6-2. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Landon Snyder put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, Kiosy Steiner was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Josh Zimmerman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Jourdanton came tearing into Friday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Aggies by a score of 8-3.
Like Cole, Jourdanton also got a great game from a two-way player: Wyatt Avery. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Avery a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Jourdanton got a massive performance out of Kevin Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Will Griego was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Jourdanton pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cole, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Cole might still be hurting after the 15-5 loss they got from Jourdanton in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
