Basketball Recap: Dalton Yarmolovich and Carter Brown Secure Win for Ironwood Ridge

Ironwood Ridge had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 25-point drubbing they dealt Walden Grove on Wednesday. The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks put the hurt on the Walden Grove Red Wolves with a sharp 77-52 victory. The win was nothing new for the Nighthawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Leading Ironwood Ridge to victory were Carter Brown and Dalton Yarmolovich. Brown posted 26 points and five rebounds, while Yarmolovich earned 18 points and six boards. That's the most points Yarmolovich has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Anderson, who scored 14 points and six rebounds.

Ironwood Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Walden Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malachi Kuti George, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Mitchel Collins was another key player, putting up nine points.

Ironwood Ridge pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Walden Grove, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.

Ironwood Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 62-47 defeat against Salpointe Catholic on the 17th. As for Walden Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-62 loss against Sahuaro on the 17th.
