The Gordon Central Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Murray County Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 19 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Gordon Central and five for Murray County.
Gordon Central fell victim to Model's stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Blue Devils 34-0.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-24, which was the final score in Murray County's tilt against Haralson County on Friday. Murray County was down 35-10 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Gordon Central's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 5.9 points per game. As for Murray County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Gordon Central came up short against Murray County in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 32-27. Can Gordon Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
