Meanwhile, Santa Maria had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They slipped by Freer 43-42.
La Villa's loss dropped their record down to 2-25. As for Santa Maria, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.
La Villa took a serious blow against Santa Maria in their previous meeting back in January, falling 86-32. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point La Villa was down 50-12.
