If the Liberty Redhawks were riding high off their 50-30 takedown of the Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Liberty ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-40 walloping at the hands of Heritage on Friday. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 615th, while Heritage is ranked 130th).
Heritage was led to victory by Cameron Lomax and Malachi Balenzategui. Lomax scored 21 points along with five rebounds, while Balenzategui scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Lomax's 21st in a row with at least ten points. Mikhail Patel was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Liberty has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Heritage, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Liberty will head out on the road to face off against Walnut Grove at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 491 points over their last seven games. As for Heritage, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lebanon Trail at 7:15 p.m. Lebanon Trail is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
