If the Santa Ana Saints were feeling good off their 82-48 takedown of the Katella Knights on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Santa Ana took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fullerton on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Santa Ana's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jack Rivera, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds, and Osten Achmad who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Rivera's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Guerrero, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Baylor Wilks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fullerton, shooting 7-for-11 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. Those 39 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Guillen, who scored 17 points.
Santa Ana's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-5. As for Fullerton, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Santa Ana will be home for the holidays to greet Calvary Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fullerton, they will head out on the road to face off against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Katella is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
