The Yazoo City Indians fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Canton Tigers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 63-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Yazoo City has not had much luck with Canton recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Canton found their leader in underclassman Shamira Morton, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 23 rebounds. Morton is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Caitlin Nelson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Yazoo City's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Canton, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
