Basketball Recap: Midfield Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Midfield waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 42-32 victory over the Parker Thundering Herd. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Thundering Herd are ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamiya Webb led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to 21 boards and six steals. Webb is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 38 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmin Johnson, who posted 13 points and five steals.

Midfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Midfield's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Parker, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Midfield will be playing at home against Lanett at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Parker, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-15 loss against Chelsea on the 14th.
